Is it necessary to have spouses name on passport. I read somewhere( i don't recall where) that for CP primary applicant must have spouse's name recorded on passport.

Any thoughts???

its not required ....

I had posted a similar question on this forum and got the response as not required .....

Also, I have 2 friends who did their CPs from NWD and did not have the spouse's name on their passports as well as the wives kept their maiden names ....

you should have all the docs ...marraige cert., marraige photos, marraige cards etc.

Its not an issue .....

I think what they mean is that the spouse passport should reflect marriage - as in the new last name. If they dont, then they will get the GC is whatever name was on the passport.

There is no guarantee that if you modify spouse's passport with the change name they will issue the visa on the new name. In my case I got it modified long back before the interview and all the previous visas were issued on the new name. But still they issued the immigrant visa on the maiden name.
