Spouse I485 question when primary approved

Hey:

I had filed my wife's I-485 on june 29th and it was received on july 2nd to be added to my application, which went current in mid-June. But my I-485 was approved on july 3 and i received my greencard on july 11. What happens to my wife's application since the visa bulletin states unavailable now.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is still not completely clear what is happening to these July 2 applications, since it doesn't look like they have been returned yet at this point. There is a lot of activity going on and there may be some good news (or no news) depending on what happens.

As for your wife: What status is she on? Does she have her own status or is she your dependent (H-4, F-2, J-2)?? If she is your dependent, she is now out of status, but there is a grace period where she can still apply for her I-485 if her numbers become current within this grace period (180 days I believe but check to be sure). After that, she may have to go home and apply via consular processing. In the meantime, stay tuned to the news from AILA regarding what will happen.
