spouse declined J-2 in St. Petersburg
My friend works in the U.S. on J-1 visa. A few months ago he invited his fiancee from Russia, but the U.S. Consulate in St. Petersburg denied her B-1 visa application because she failed to provide enough evidence that she returns to Russia. Then my friend went to Russia and married her two weeks ago. Now, she applied again, this time for J-2 visa, with all the necessary papers, but was declined again. The consul said she married for the purpose of entering the U.S. Another reason he mentioned was the fact that, although my friend's former wife (they recently divorced) lives in Russia, her J2 visa has not expired yet. Does anybody know what can be done in this situation? Please help!
