Hi,
I am a green card holder in U.S. My spouse is on his H-1 visa working here. I am eligible to appy for my citizenship in a couple of months. I have a couple of questions regarding this. We live in Texas.

1. Will I be able to apply for my spouse's green card at the same time (simultaneusly) when I apply for my citizenship? or should I wait until I get my citizenship before I can apply for his greencard?
2. How long does TX INS take to process citizenship application?
3. If I apply for my spouse's greencard after I get my citizenship, how long will it take for my spouse to get his greencard?
4. When my spouse gets his greencard, will it be a temporary greencard/
5. When will it become permanent?

Could someone help me with these questions?
Thanks.

It is better if you get your citizenship first if he has time on his H1 bec texas is generally fast (depending on the DO your address is in). This will save you some money and could possibly save time as it will not have to change the type of GC you apply for him. It will be temporary for 3 yrs(maybe 2) based on marriage and then after the precondition is removed it will be permanent. Just make sure you follow the timelines specified with them. My friend had his inteview scheduled 5 days before the due date(INS's fault) but he had to wait 2 more years to remove the condition.

Hi enjoylife,
Thank you for the information. I will keep this in mind.

Could you please explain what you meant by the "due date"?

I mean if the condition has to be removed in 2 years then by some stroke of fate the interview got scheduled 5 days before the actual completion of the 2 yrs so it had to be rescheduled bec they can not interview until the time period for condition is over.
