Sponsoring Parents With Health Issues

I am at the final stages of my parents sponsorship. Both my parents are above 65. My mother is in resonable health however my father's, who is 73 years old, Left Leg has some paralasis as he had a stroke a few years ago. He can walk with the help of a 4 legged walker however the left leg still has the effects of the stroke which as per doctors will not go away. Besides this he is fine.

Just wanted to consult anyone here or the moderator with some insight into this or similar issues. Will this be something which would jeopardize my father's sponsorship to the USA. I being a US Citizen sponsored him some years ago.

Would appreciate a prompt response.

Best.

It's not going affect his eligibility for a green card, but it will be just about impossible for your parents to obtain insurance unless at least one of them works for a company that provides health benefits, so you have to think about the costs and risks of having them live here uninsured.

Thank you Jackolantern.
Any other comments from someone who has experienced such a situation or knows about it would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Jackolantern's comments reagrding the costs amd insurance were 100% correct.

However, entry to the US can be denied if someone is deemed to be a likely public charge.

Someone who has already had a stroke is at high risk of another. You need to understand that an affidavit of support commits the signer to reinburse the government for most health care expenses paid for out of government funds. The most likely scenario in his case would be the need to be institutionalized in a nursing home should he become totally unable to care for himself and you not be able to manage his care by yourself. Nursing home care in cheap areas for minimal care starts at around $4,000 per MONTH. Care in a good quality home for someone requiring a high level of care (4 years ago when my mother was in that situation) was about $12,000 per MONTH. This did not include care by doctors or hospitalizations or drugs - just nursing home expenses.

Are you financially able to pay these costs immediately or to reimburse the US taxpayers for his care if the need arose? If not, you should leave him where he earned the right to benefits.
