My wife and I have an interview date for June 23rd in Dallas. My mother-in-law is here on a visitor's visa currently, and we'd like to sponsor her GC as soon as we can swear in.
Questions:
- In Dallas, is the oath taking done on the same day as the interview?
- If the oath taking is not done the same day, how far away from the interview date is it typically?
- If my M-I-L's I-94 is expiring end of July, is it safe to request for extension, so that she doesn't have to go back to India? This would allow us to not worry about when the oath taking is. Situation is that my F-I-L expired recently and we prefer that she not go back at this time.
- If we get our swearing in before her I-94 expiry date, will applying for her GC the day we swear in, allow her to continue to stay in this country?
What is the best course of action considering the above situation? I have tried to look for an answer in the FAQ and other postings, but didn't find one that suited our situation.
Please help.
Regards
