Sponsoring Children 4-5 Yrs. After Getting The Gc.

SPONSORING CHILDREN 4-5 YRS. AFTER GETTING THE GC.

My CP Interview will be held in Europe sometime during the next
month or two. We are not yet sure whether the whole family
(wife and two children 11 and 8 yrs.) or just myself should attend the interview and apply for the GC. My family are living in India right now.

Since it will be difficult for the whole family to travel twice a year to the USA to maintain the GC, I might be the only one applying for the Green card. I am thinking of moving to India and maintaining the GC by travelling to the USA, 1-2 times/year.

QUESTION is -- Whether I can sponsor my children (before they turn 16 or 18 yrs.) after 5 yrs., without being a US citizen. How long does this normally take ?

Do you have any other comments or suggestions ?

Does it take almost 5 ys. For category 2A (unmarried children under 21yrs., of Permanet Residents), priority date Sept. 1997 !!!

OPTIONS

* Process GC for everyone and apply for Re-entry permit.
Re-entry permit is for a max. of 2 years.
Decide whether to move after two years !!!.


This is a difficult decision to make.
