Sponsor wants me to sign agreement saying "I won't sue him in future"

when I asked my sponsor to provide me a letter of completion, he says he would do so if I can sign an agreement saying that I will not bring any law suits in future(he knows that I didnot pay Malpractice as he should have, he didnot pay regularly to me, no health insurance etc. and lot more I can bring upon him)
Should I sign such agreement ???
State 20 when contacted was weired and not easy and said that they will give me a letter provided I get a letter from my sponsor?

please help

I have three recommendations for you:

- talk to an employment attorney
- talk to an immigration attorney
- talk to the DOJ office for immigration based discrimination (I'll look up the correct name and link for you later)

From my limited understanding of contract law, you could sign whatever he wants if it gets you the GC. Later you turn around and sue him for all he's worth, including his house, his car and his boat.

That 'agreement not to sue' isn't worth the paper it is printed on if you can show later on that he abused your vulnerable immigration status to extort it from you. IRCA for all its brutal provisions against immigrants has given you some rights in that regard. Also, for a contract to be valid there has to be something called 'consideration' for both sides. Meaning, a contract cannot be as lopsided as this one, particularly if it was achieved under an illegal threat.

Don't look for help from the state DOH. Their interest and yours have NO overlap. When in doubt, they are on the side of the employer.

This brings up another point.

Isn't there other ways to prove that you have fulfilled your obligation other than getting letter of copmpletion. E.g. W2.

Also, isn't regular updates are submitted by your employer to DOH, probably every six monhs or yearly. Wouldn't this be enough?

Just a thought.

well u need the letter from the employer, besides that u do send W2 , tax return etc, i do agree with hadron , go ahead and later on with a cool mind sue if u feel its worth it
