The question is, are you and your professor willing to sacrifice the time and money it takes to get a green card. It will take years before you get a green card. If you are a student now, do you have a financial plan to survive for the next 4 years while your applications are pending? Do you have the possibility of getting a work visa in the interim? Is your professor willing to stick it out through the process for that long? Do you have the money to hire a lawyer? If not, are you well versed in requirements of all the forms (most people just hire a lawyer that costs $6000-$10,000)

Start with the link grunggy provided. Then you can read through these forums to get more insight. Best thing, is to schedule a free 1 hour consultation with a good immigration lawyer.

Yes, you need to fill out a ton of forms, and supply a ton of supporting documents for those forms also. After your PERM applciation is approved, and your I-140 application is approved, you could adjust your status (using form I-485) while in the US, which in most cases would not require an interview, or you could get an interview at the consulate in your home country.

There is a lot of waiting involved, so if you do not have an ounce of patience, or if your professor is in a rush to get this overwith, then this may not be for you. I've seen the best people go crazy (me included) on this board with the waiting, and the delays due to dumb mistakes made by USCIS, so you need nerves of steel to get to the end. It took me 50 months, but it seems to be moving a little faster now. For some its not worth the trouble, for others, they have nothing to lose, and still for others, it has been in thier destiny all along. Its your choice, if you really really want it.

wow lol..thank you guys for these sincere insights and truth about this devilish labor certificate lol...well i have a BS in information technology and im doing my MBA right now in information management...well i wanted to do this so that i will be able to travel overseas back and forth since my F-1 visa has expired already...on june i believe...i m afraid if u go backhome to renew my visa they wont let me do it...so i dont wanna take any risks eventhough i ve maintained my legal status since day 1 in the U.S. so is there any other way for me to get like a privilege to travel backhome and come back here? is there a way to do that beside getting married to a USC?
thanks again guys...
Regards
