Sponcering GC to brother

HI

I am perminent resident in USA (Green card). Can i sponcer GC to my brother or monther(their are in India).

If i can what are document i have to file.
can you please give some details .
If one in the same boat, give me particulars for that.

You need to be a US Citizen to file for an immigrant visa petition for your parents or brothers / sisters.

You can file an I 134 Affidavit of support for your mother or brother to apply for a visitors visa.

Actually this is not true, atleast part of the statement is not true.
Its true that only a US citizen can be a petiitoner for an immigrant visa but can be only for immediate relative - parents or children. The category for brother and sister is no longer being entertained by INS, major reason due to the duration for priority dates to become current. The category was suspended sometime in early 90's I think and no applications are being accepted since then.
