Also talked to an IIO
I've also talked to an IIO last night (2/27/03).
After about 15 minutes of repeat dialing I finally got though ... to waiting for about 20 minutes before my call was picked up around 5:45PM.
The IIO seemed bored to death and the info she gave me was completely useless.
1. "Your case has not been pulled off the shelf"
2. "There is a possibility your case will be assigned in about 2 weeks" ... but "call back if you don't hear from us in 45-60 days."
How encouraging ... basically they give you the same standard message to get rid of you.
3. "You know that it could take up to 2 years from the ND to get the actual plastic card in your hands"
This is a first - that means that it could take up to (it could be more, it could be less) another 9 months to get the card - again very useful info
4. I've asked her to address the slow processing. She said that they're getting trucks full of mail every day that they need to handle. But of course no comment in response to my statement that if they won't touch our cases then they'll end up receiving exponentially more mailing from each of us for fingerprints expirations, AP, EADs etc.
By the way, what's up with the fingerprints expiration - I always thought that's a unique identifier - has that changed with INS?
Overall, I won't waste any more of my time to call the INS - it certainly won't speed up the processing.
Happy waiting y'all
