Speeding Probation and Citizenship

Hi,

I was arrested for a DUI in IL 3 years back, but the DUI was dismissed and my attorney plea bargained for a "speeding over 30 miles/hr" Class I misdemeanor. The judge also put me on probation for a year. Anyway, I successfully completed my probation and the case was totally dismissed in Feb 2008.

I have heard from certain sources that you cannot apply for citizenship for 5 years after completion of any probation term. Is this true? Does this mean that I cannot apply for citizenship till Feb 2013?

Secondly, I had a domestic violence charge against me a couple of months back which was dismissed. Will this have any bearing on the citizenship application approval?

I am ordinarily eligible to apply for citizenship this July 09.

Your responses and advise will be sincerely appreciated.
