I have been doing some research as to what exactly qualifies as specialized skills and would like to know if the situation below falls into it.
I am the business development manager for the entire Gulf (middle east) region for my company which deals in oil and gas. The headquarters is located in the US. My background is a Bsc in mechanical engineering. I am currently opening up companies, developing contacts and getting to know the market and the decision makers of various oil and gas giants in the region and expanding our client base in this region with my activities. This means we get more projects and jobs than ever before from this region.
My US responsibilities, when I transfer, would be to work on the actual projects and jobs (pressure vessels, compressor packages, etc) of the gulf clients on the mechanical engineering side, and my knowledge and acquaintance with our customers (that I have developed for over a year) would help me push projects forward and complete them more efficiently than someone who has no knowledge of the market/decision makers or previous personal interaction with our customers.
Do you think this falls under specialized skills?
