It's a spam about my mom's visa.
She has a 10 year multiple entry visa. She was admitted for 6 months the first time. She wants to go back in 4 and come back after 2 months for another 6 months. Reason she wants to go back is purely personal and cannot be changed. She is about 65 years old.

Question : Will it be okay to come back after 2 months for another 6 months in SFO?

Any experiences appreciated..

I wonder if a person who was given a visitor visa starts practically live here will be considered as having "immigrant intent".

BitterMan,

Age is a big criteria here. If the person is older than 60-65 years of age, then the chances are higher that they will be allowed to stay as long as the visa permits. Basically the thinking is as follows:

1. If the person lives here and is that old, he/she cannot work, but he/she will need money to live which will be expended either from money bought from India or from dependents living here.
2. Going by 1. above, it is a win win situation for the US economy. There is no need to expend money on education/health care/social security/welfare.

ton_ton,

Shouldn't be a problem, just make sure that after the 6 month period when she goes back, she should stay atleast 6 months in India before making the trip again. If there are too many repeat trips with very little time spent outside the country, the IIO might get antsy and give shorter duration entry visa's.

parents trips

My parents came to us within 2 months and there was no problem. The officer told my dad that "you are not supposed to visit your country and stay in US with this visa" and gave them I-94 with 6 months. They have come the 3rd time in last 3years (this time after 8 months) and got another 6 months. So I don't think there is any problem
