Tech jobs....

I won't attempt to be eloquent here. However, I'll state my concerns briefly.
I am a seasoned IT professional / consultant, and have been out of work over 3 months. While I understand that the entire industry in slack, I am very concerned that, in economic times such as this, there is no mechanism to curtail competition for American jobs by foreign nationals.
Please don't get me wrong - I have foreign friends in the industry - I'm not prejudiced.
When things were "good" I would have no problem allowing excess work to go to anyone who could contribute to our economy. However, in todays times, things have changed. Things have changed radically and rapidly.
The Internet is great cause for concern as well. IT jobs are being taken by the lowest bidder on many project 'auction' sites - sometimes for pennies on the dollar. It really hurts me to know that I -might- have a better knowledge of a client's need, but the winning bid goes to India or Russia for 1/10th of my absolute minimum price. I can't possibly be competitive.
There must be a mechanism to return those previously 'excess' jobs back to the American workforce in a -very- timely manner. We need this NOW - not later.
Bottom line- I need a job soon. Would you like to discuss my issues further? I'm at your disposal.
Regards,
Doug Slocum
