Hello friends
I am desperately trying not to send our kid to home country. My wife and I have highly erratic work schedules which preempts us from using regular day care.
I am trying to get someone to help us from India. Not a relative but an aquaintance to stay with us for 3-4 months to tide over the immediate problem.
What would be the best way to do that. can we sponsor them for visitor visa.
Any guidance/tips on this will be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Your parents would be the best choice. They will also be able to get visa easily. Getting anyone else would really be difficult. This is what my uncle(citizen) had done. He had similar problems too.
He applied to INS stating that he needed someone who had particular religious beliefs for his kids to learn about religion and culture. He then put up a very specific ad. in the newspaper asking for the same. After a month, he showed that there were no responses for the post specified. He then got a person from India to take care of his kids. Here was the problem. The person left after 2 months to work for someone else at a higher salary. It is very difficult to contain someone to work for you. You can screw his happiness by complaining to the INS etc. but keeping him is not easy.

Thanks sai

but my parents were here and have gone back (they are still working). the person in question is a married lady (my parent's employee for past 10 yrs). i can show her some places around (tourism) and have her for 3-4 months (immediate need to be taken care of). her son is still studying in india. so she will go back.
is visitor visa the only/best way to go about it.
has anyone taken that route.
thank you

Re: Thanks sai

It all depends on whether she can get the visa. If she is not related to you, the question will arise as to why you are sponsoring her. Can she show enough bank balance/past employment history to demonstarate that she is capable of spending the amount herself for sight-seeing.
Look for 'religious work' as an option .....
