software product manager job zone for PERM

Hi All -
I had a few questions regarding PERM application.

1) Has anyone filed a PERM application as a Software Product Manager.
My lawyer is suggesting filing it as software application engineer, which would restrict my company from having Masters Degree (which I hold) as a requirement for the job.

I would like to know if anyone has filed PERM with Product Manager as job profile and what JOB ZONE was used. I would like to stay in the EB2 category and my understanding is that you have to advertize for a position that is in JOB ZONE 5 for that.

2) My RIR application was filed as software application engineer. My job profile is that of a product manager. Can I convert my RIR to PERM to preserve priority date, or do I have to file a complete new application?

Any feed back would be helpful.

RIR - Filed MAY 2004, Philadelphia
45 Day Letter: Not Received yet
PERM - Starting the process.

dont take the risk

There are enough cases getting approved for Software Engineers under EB2. Why do you want to take the risk? What if the manager application gets rejected, how are you going to justify filing for an engineer position then. I think DOL will see right through it. Also,..if you want to keep your priority date, you cannot change the job profile.

Re: Don't take that risk

Hi -
Thanks for the response .
I wasn't very clear in my first message. My job profile is not that of a software developer, but of product management. I can't say I have x years of experience in Java of C++ or any of that.
I was trying to explore the option of using
11-9041.00 - Engineering Managers as job category as my title in the company is Product Manager (ever since I was hired). My RIR app was filed as software application engineer because that's what my title was in my earlier job. I now think that was a mistake.

You go bring up an interesting point . Software engineers have been filing under EB2 category, however under what job-zone. If you use
15-1031.00 - Computer Software Engineers, Applications the Job Zone for which is 4 (see link http://online.onetcenter.org/link/summary/15-1032.00)
then can you still make Master's Degree a requirement.
