i have a question... if a person has a social security card that states " valid for employment only with INS authorization" before he got the green card... now after green card aproval.... do they apply to get a new card? what should the card say??? is it a regular social security number without restrictions?? thanks in advance for your help!!

Yes, a new SSN must be applied - it will have the condition (valid for employment....) removed.

You'll need to go to social security office to apply for a new card. The number will be the same, just without the restrictions.

Yes, you should apply for a new one, will have the same number though, but it won't say anything else on it, except for the ss# and your name.

I will do that this next Tuesday...by the way, the IO who interviewed me told me that "there are certains benefits that now will apply"...does somebody knows if he was smoking dope :) or it was true? or this is when NOW will start counting the 40 credits of SSA that is mention on the Affidavit of Support?

I believe the credits start counting as soon as you have a ss# and you're working, regardless of what kind of ss card you have.

The benefit is that you're not restricted to work only certain jobs and in certain places and the employer will not try to "explode" you :p :D :D ...unless your name is Ari who should be on the "exploding" list of every employer in the U.S.
:D :D
