Small claims court and N400

Hi,

I am planning to apply for my citizenship in Nov-2004. But in the mean time, I am thinking of filing a civil case in a small claims court, as a plaintiff. Does this affect my citizenship process? I was told it doesn't affect, but I would like to verify from members of this thread.

Thanks, jory

Should not affect, especially if you are the plantiff.

P.S. Let us know when you are on Judge Judy :D

It actually is a pre-requisite for citizenship to sue someone. It is one way to express that you have internalized one important element of beeing 'american' :-))) (now go and buy some insurance you don't need)

Honestly, I couldn't imagine how you filing a legitimate suit against someone could affect your citizenship. The only thing they care about are criminal proceedings.

phillydude/hadron, Thanks for the info.

phillydude - If I get a chance to be on Judge Judy, sure, I will invite you all on that day. I hope you will make it...

hadron - LOL, you put it nicely. In a practical sense, what you say is very true. May be one day, it will become be a pre-requisite for applying N-400, you never know...

I was just double checking, but I get what you are saying about difference between criminal and civil cases, and that too I am filing as a plaintiff.
