only in a pending status waiting for my temporary residency.

I lived in my current resident state for more than three years and kept all the bills from my last place. I sound totally native as I practically grew up in the States.

I was wondering if I don't check the citizenship/resident box, and it goes unnoticed, I would get in a big trouble if found out later.

I've been wanting to return to school, but I just cannot afford to pay the non-resident/international student tuition. Beside, I frankly don't enjoy revealing my immigrational status.

Any answer would be helpful.

Hello,

You should not intentionally or unintentionally try to cheat. Basically by lying you are setting yourself up to be caught later.
You can get some scholarships or work on campus as international student, that can help pay for part of the tuition.
