Simple EAD question for me.. :)

I finally got the "card production ordered" status and i've heard from a few that it takes as fast as 10 days or a month.. but i would like to ask..

can i apply for SSN w/o the physical EAD Card? can i just show them the papers saying i got approved for EAD? how do i go about when applying for SSN? i wanna work asap.

does the EAD card really take a month to be delivered?
my "card production ordered" notice was 6/28.. is it likely to be delivered next week?

anyone have timelines which ever is fast or slow is ok :)
