Everytime USCIS needs to communicate with you regarding your application processing, they send out a NOA (Notice of Action). It could be that they received your application, or your application was approved, or denied or anything that indicates a certain action has been taken on your case.

You would get your first NOA after you send your applications. The NOA would serve as receipts from USCIS that they received your applications.

Hope this helps...

Hi Triniqueen,
NOA = Notice of Action, it's like an acknowledgement receipt from USCIS saying that you papers were received and they are processing it, it will have your name, address, Alien number, the type of form you submitted, the fee your paid etc. etc.

!?

Good Luck !
