Sibling Petitions and Immigration Reform

I have been reading about the most recent proposals and I see that two of the provisions of the most likely bill to pass affect my situation:

1) Immigrant visas for siblings of U.S. citizens would be repealed 18 months after the date of enactment.

2) A backlog for family and employment-based immigrants would be eliminated.

So, I have a USC sibling who petitioned me recently. The i-130 was accepted but, AFAIK, it takes a couple of years for them to review and make a decision on the petition.

I was wondering, if the bill passes in the summer and the sibling petitions are repealed before I get the approval of my petition, will that mean that my petition will be denied?

What do you think?

Also, how much do you think the the backlog elimination measures will speed up the wait time?

Thanks. I will appreciate any thoughts and insights.

Thanks for posting, I came here to ask this same exact question. I recently became a USC in October 2012, and in Feb 2013 I submitted petitions for 3 of my siblings. This issue is of paramount importance to me as well. Does anyone know how/where the information will be available? The mainstream media tends to paint things with a broad brush "sibling petitions will be eliminated" but the devil of course is in the details. All petitions, or will existing ones be grandfathered in? How will they treat petitions from different countries? Will all existing petitions be grandfathered in, or only those before a certain time period? etc.

Those of use who have struggled through the process know the immigration law and rules are very complex with all sorts of special situations and rules. I'm going to try to keep an eye on this, but don't really know where to go to find out these details, with the exception of this forum.

Does anybody know what is going to happen with the f4 category? do you think that there will be any speeding up?
