Should the conditional GC be stamped on a passport?

Hello.

I went to the interview 2 weeks ago and they approved my application. However, since it was too late for getting the stamp on the passport at the same day, the officer said he'll mail the GC to me.

I don't remember whether the officer held my passport and asked me if it's ok to hold my passport for few weeks or held something else.

Should conditional GC be stamped on a passposrt or can it be a card that is separate from a passport? If GC is a stamp and need a passport, I should go back to the USCIS office to bring my passport.

I am very confused. If anyone who got a conditinal GC before, please let me know if it's a stamp or not....

Thank you for reading and look forward to hear from you :)))

USCIS stamps a temporary visa on a passport as a proof that your case has been approved and your greencard is on its way. one can use this stamp to travel and as a proof that you are authorized to work. In many cases in this forum, they didnt stamp the passport. in my case my passport was stamped. actuall plastic greencard is usually mailed out within a month if everthing in your case is in order.
