Should not apply for your parents GC till you get the approval for Visitor Visa ?

I am a US Citizen. I want to process GC for my Parents who are currently in US on Visitors visa. I have applied for my parents Visitor visa extension but I have not yet got approval from INS. My Attorney say you should not apply for your parents GC till you get the approval for Visitor Visa extension.

Please advice!

you have to be careful. Listen to you lawyer. But check out immigrationlink.com too. I thought that if you are here on a vistor visa then you are not looking to stay. Once you applied to change their status then they are looking to immigrate here and that visa is invalid. So, check out different sites on this issues.
