My family came to the US 9 years ago, when our children where 9 and 11. Now that our Green Card is about to expire and my younger daughter is 18, we were about to request the Citizenship. When I started researching, I found out that there is a requirement to renew the Green Card when the children turn 14, which we didn't do (did not know about it, and the cards have 10 year validity. We are now 7 months from expiration.
a) Could my children request the naturalization even we missed the renewal of the Green Cards or my children need to renew the Green Card first (entailing double payment)?
b) If they need to renew the Green Card first, would they have problems due to not having renovated it at their 14 yr birthday?
