should I go with EAD or H1

I contacted HR to renew my EAD. I am still on H-1. Although I didn't use it, it's better to have it for any unforseen situation. But HR will only renew my EAD if I quit my H-1 status. I am wondering whether it's necessary for me to keep H-1 since I filed 485 already? should I quit H-1 and go with EAD from now on?

Thanks for any opinion.
 
Three reasons I can think of for keeping EAD

# 1. You are unmarried - you would like to file your AOS with follow to join and get married and bring your spouse over here - you would need H1 to get your spouse in the country with H4 status.

#2. For any reason you fear there is a chance your AOS will be denied - you will have H1 as a back-up to maintain status.

#3 The greatest of reasons(!!!) - money - I am assuming you wont pay for H1 while you would pay $120 for EAD + $100 for AP /per year/per person.

Think if these reasons apply to you.

If you think your employer might lay you off soon and you may have to seek help of omnipotent AC21 - then you would need EAD.
