I left US Jan 1 after naturalization interview ... with my name check pending ... believing that clearance and approval would occur within 6 months. In fact IO stated that I would "probably" clear within 3 months.

I have been back to US a couple of times. I am working in Vancouver for an American company ... there are a lot of US companies here in film and animation due to outsourcing. I am working on an animated feature film and my contract will end December 2007. Many, perhaps majority, of my co-workers and supervisors are American who moved up to Canada for the job. In fact the company paid for their relocation and Canada immigration visas.

So I can fill out the N-470, Application to Preserve Residence for Naturalization Purposes and mail it when I go to US in December. I'm not sure if I qualify. ... Hope someone can give me feedback

A lawyer I hired seems to feel that I don't need to worry about continuous residency issues if I return to US every 6 months. (This lawyer has messed me up ... charging fees way over her estimate ... and deciding not to file 1447(B) when I thought she was going to do that)

I have a re-entry permit. I still receive mail at my Dallas address. I don't have a lease. I pay for the phone and internet ... I am "sort-of" an out-of-town roommate. I still have US bank accounts, credit cards.

All of my history and business is in California ... so that is where I go when I go to US.

This situation has caused me a lot of distress and financial hardship. I am trying to work things out with lawyer ... I think she has made my situation worse.

I am hoping that filing N-470 will help ... that I can be approved for this. The officers who interview me were REALLY nice to me ... sort of treated me like a movie star ... which messes my head up even more. i don't like being out of US when there is some sort of FBI background check problem. Unfortunatly I do not have the means to go back. The stress has made it hard for me to work properly. So this sitaution has caused me career setback as well

Thanks for listening ... i'd appreciate any feedback

I've posted before ... I guess I should post back in my own thread
