Should I file N-400 application now or in early 2008?

I was filling out my N-400 application form, but then began to wonder if I should wait 7 more months.

I got my green card in May 2002, when my sponsoring employer already went out of business. I didn't land another job until January 2003.

On N-400 form, If I list my work history in the past 5 years from May 2002 ~ May 2007, anybody can easily see that I didn't have a job in May 2002, which isn't exactly the best status for a GC applicant at the time.

I could just wait for 7 more months, but I really want to get my citizenship as soon as possible in order to help my wife. She doesn't have a green card yet.

Any thoughts are highly welcome. Thanks.

Even thought current work status is not a criteria for N-400 approval/denial, I would strongly recommend you to consult an immigration attorney.

Yes, consult a lawyer because even if you wait 7 months, during the Interview the officer can ask about previous work history. Even before the 5 year period.
