Should I file I-765?

I am working in the US on an L1A visa which expires 3/31/06. I got married to a US citizen last September and I am about to apply for a green card. My question is do I need to file I-765 for an Employment Authorization Document?

If I got my green card before the expiration of my L1A visa, my understanding is that I would not need to file I-765 - the green card gives me my authorization to work. Is this assumption correct? I live in Houston.

Alternatively, I am thinking about waiting a few months before filing I-765. Or should I do it now?

Any thoughts on this one? Any information greatly appreciated.

This is a question only you can answer. If you want freedom to work for anyone you want, you should go for EAD. If you are waiting for your GC so you could change jobs, you should go for EAD. If you are happy with your current situation, you might still want to apply for EAD which might help you incase you lose your job or something like that. In the end, its your call. Always better to have a backup. My 2 cents...
