Should i apply for F2 or wait for H1B

Hi

My husband is a student in the US on F1 visa. I wish to join him on F2 (dependent) visa which I plan to apply immediately.

There is also a chance I may get a job in the US where the employer would sponsor H1B visa. However this may take a little bit more time.

If I apply for F2 dependent visa now and then after a month or two apply for H1B, will the F2 visa application reduce or spoil my chances for getting the H1B visa?

I am keen to join immediately, as soon as I get dependent visa, without waiting. However I don't want to spoil chances of getting H1B later.

Please advice on the course of action.

Regards
Vinitha

The fact you have anF2 stamping and have entered the US on that will have no effect on the H1B. However, you - and the employer - must still meet the H1B requirements for the job and your qualifications.

Remember that for a COS for F2 to H1B, you cannot begin working until you have an approval notice and H1B I-94 in your hand. It may still require that you apply for H1B stamping before beginning working.
