Shoplifting, probation, citizenship application

Hello, I have been on probation for shoplifting goods worth less than $100 for the last two years. It is suppose to conclude next year May. It is a misdemenour case. I am also trying to see if I can file a termination of probation and expungement therof. This is the only crime I have committed and definitely there won't be any in future.

Now, I have completed 5 years as a perm. resident and eligible to apply for US citizenship. My question is:

1. Is it it advisable to apply for the US citizenship now when I am still on probation?. Is so what is the probability that it may get approved. In case if the application is denied, when can apply next, after the probation or after 5 years?

Thanks

since you have committed your crim in last year or two. USCIS might consider that you do not have good moral character. mostly USCIS would consider a person who has committed any crims in past 5 yrs toward to the date they apply for n400. however, USCIS can go as far as any years they want to determine a good moral character on a person or not.

i read some posts suggesting people to wait another 5 years to prove the person never commit any more crim since last offense was comitted.
