Sharing Training Material for Asylum Officers

The USCIS used to provide the educational material that they used for training their asylum officers. These are really important because they teach you how the officers adjudicate your case. There are instructions for officers to even pay attention to the asylum seeker's demeanor and body language during the interview.

Unfortunately, these lessons were taken off the USCIS website over a year ago. I found an old archive that has them. You may find the links in the attached pdf. I encourage everyone to study these documents before they go to the actual interview.

Moreover, there is a documentary available on Amazon, called "well-founded fear". It shows six real asylum interviews back in 2000. It's a very informative documentary for those who are preparing for their interviews. One of the primary goals of the interview is to show how the whole asylum adjudication is such a subjective matter and it all depends on the impression that leave on the officer. Basically, you could rejected despite having a strong case if you fail to present your case very well.
