sharing an incident - carry matches...

on a stop for a connecting flight at Dallas international, i stepped out for a fag... on the way back the security officer spotted a lighter in my jacket (passed thru the xray-belt)... funnily enough i carried the same lighter and stepped out at dallas to smoke on my onward trip (uncanny, huh)

i was told i couldn't carry it on - that i had the option to mail it back ($12 for international/$6 for domestic mail)... i politely asked the officer to keep it.. but then she pulled out a hazardous material form, xeroxed my boarding pass and drivers licence...

was wondering if anyone else had lst a lighter - hoping this triggers off an RFE and slices cobwebs off my buried file...

cheers...

Boss don't take them wrong, actually these poor security officers don't have any clue what they are doing.
Anyway its not going to affect your case anyway.

Some 'interesting' people

... work at DFW airport for sure.
I travelled to North East during one of those cold days recently and had a heavy jacket. So, I had a plastic bag and kept the jacket in it (instead of carrying on hand which is cumbersome). In addition I had a carry-on bag+ laptop bag.
When I tried to board, the lady who was allowing the passengers , stopped me and told that I can carry only 2 carry-on items. I told her that the plastic carry on has nothing but the Jacket. She insisted that it still constitutes as a bag and asked me to a)either check-in one 'bag' or b) remove the plastic bag and carry the jacket on hand.

What do you think about that ?

Anyway, since it was during one of those heightened security alerts and not being a citizen, I stopped short of argument and did what she said.

BTW, I can feel anger and hatred among few americans towards Indian origin nationals, given that they hear everyday that jobs being exported to India.
