SFO port of entry is strict

I just wanted to share with you that the SFO POE is really strict, my friend travelled for a vacation to SFO with his 35 year old daughter, (both of them are 10yr multiple and travel to US every 2 years for vacation).

They asked to stay 5-6 months to visit a daughter in NY, however they were still sent to a second room where the officer was very rude. in the past they never had any problems at POE.

Luckily even with the 2nd interogation, they were given a 6 month stamp. When i travelled in March, I said i would stay 4 weeks and i was given a 1 month stamp!! (i am also 10 yr mulitple and visit the US every year)

gone are the days when they automatically give 6 months.

What were the questions asked?

obiwan,

Thanks for the info. Could you share with us the kind of questions asked in the second room? My father will be entering thro' SFO and would want to prepare him for that.

Thanks.

sure,

they were asked questions like how long were you here the last visits (the officer also printed their history of entry and exits into the US) they asked if the daughter was married and if had children etc. they were basically trying to intimidate them and see if they would not be consistent or something like that. but since they were consistent i guess they were let go.

but my friend felt so harrassed since he 60 years old and didnt need the stress since they were quite rude and mean  .

hope this helps, good luck

My mom arrived last week at SFO. The officer asked questions about "How many visits have you made", "Why did you return early last trip" etc - and stamped I-94 for full 6 months.

Number and duration of visits

obiwan and talkative,

Thanks for the useful info.

Wondering whether number of earlier visits made and duration of previous visits would trigger immigration officer at port of entry to make you go the second room for additional questioning?

obiwan,
How many times had your friend visited earlier? Had your friend extended their stay during any of the previous visits.

Thanks

IO is what that matters

My father entered SFO y'day on B2. The only question that he was asked is whether he had grandkids. IO replied that his presence was required for his grandkids and stamped full 6 months. :)
