several questions regarding AP?Please help

I am going to apply for AP,because my h-1visa will be expired Feb. 28, 2004.
I have some question, anyone knows please help,
1.should I file to the same office which my i-485 is pending?
2.Should I write a separate sheet to explian why I am applying or simply mail them my I-485 receipt?
3.How long it is going to take right now?

If you are in NewJersey, you may have an option of just going to Newark and filing there and collecting it the same day.. Search this forum for a post from forum123 on AP, he was told by Newark office that he neednot have filed, he could just get it from them..

I am in New York and filed at VSC since my 485 is pending there. you only need to add add a seperate sheet explaing why you are applying, if there is an emergency situation and you need for them to expedite the processing. Other wise no letter is fine too.. I added a sheet listing the attachments (supporting documents).

My receipt notice says it is taking between 30 to 60 days, however there are people on this forum that have been waiting for over 60 days... so proabably less than 90 days still.

Yes, unless there's emergency (when some local centers issue AP quickly).

2.Should I write a separate sheet to explian why I am applying?

Yes. For example, applying to enable emergency travel for business/family reasons, etc. There are various opinions here. Some write the reasons and some don't. No harm in writing.

3.How long it is going to take right now?

Anywhere between 2 and 4 months.
