settlement funds to take while landing?

i have given in my application that i will be bringing along $20,000 CAD with me while landing. now can i take just a little over $10,000 CAD and the rest in bank statements as proof that i do have the rest? is this acceptable by the immigration officer while i land in canada for the first time? will i face any problems for insufficient funds as per the info given by me in my application? please let me as i am planning to land pretty soon from india.
 
Will the bank statement from US or India? I know for sure that if youare landing form the US, what you said will work. I am unsure as to how the Immigration official would react if it is a bank statement issued from India.
 
the bank statement is from citibank, US and NOT from india. i will be landing from india but the bank monthly statements are from US banks only. i do have the past 6 months statements printed off from my netbanking. would this be enough? let me know, thanks.
 
My case is somewhat similar to cnatar2. I have mentioned in my application that I am bringing 12000 Canadian Dollar. Now can I bring 10,000 Canadian dollar or I have to bring 12,000 Canadian dollar.

If it is a US bank, there shouldn't be any problems. I am not sure if your bank statements, would be sufficient. To be on the safe side, get a letter from Citibank branch that you normally bank at.

i am currently in india and there is no way of getting a letter from citibank. all i can get is the online statements that i can download from my internet banking. the look and feel are the same as the pronted statement that citibank sends to my US mailing address. in this case, can i just go with $10,000 CAD and for the rest ofd the $10,000 CAD with bank statements from citibank printed out? will i face any problems with the immigration officer while landing? i am going to be landing pretty soon. so please give me your thoughts/experiences, thanks.

You should be fine. If questioned, just explain, that your bank is in the US, and you are landing from India.
