Settlement funds question

Guys,

Part of landing process is to show sufficient fund to settle in Canada i.e. $10000 per person. Is it necessary to carry a bank draft or cashier check to prove that one has money to settle in Canada or letter from a U.S. bank showing sufficient funds will do the job?

Please advise.

Thanks,

RF

When I landed 2 years ago, I took a Bank Draft for $15,000 (US) and also a letter from the bank showing available funds. Others who have landed recently have taken lesser amouts, and some have taken only letters from the bank.

IMHO it depends on the Canadian Immigration officer who will be doing your immigration paperwork at the POE.

RAmfan,
At the time applying i showed 15,000$ for my family.

But the time of landing I took 2500US $ Cashier cheque and also I carried my check book and some latest bank statements showing proof that i have sufficient funds .So dont' worry for this same time don't show the till they ask you.

good luck
