Hi All,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I thought I would try anyway.
I'm in NJ and I got my green card a few months ago. I work with a consulting company currently. I want to leave them and work independently now that I have my green card (with the same client though). I will avoid paying their commission and get some tax benefits (judging by people's advice).
Could someone please advise me as to what is the best way to go independent? Should I open a company (if so, what type) or work on an individual basis and get a 1099 from the company? What is the most common thing that people do?
Also , are there any web-sites where I can get information?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
J R
