Hi lycra ,
Yes they are two different checks , but both are performed by Fbi !!! I've also did 5 service requests during the last 2 years , and they never sent me an answer !!! Fbi office says that it tales around 6 months average for them to do all these checks , but everything it is just missinformation , from Fbi and USCIS also !!! They do what they want and when they want it !!! It is just dissapointing waiting so long time , and their answers are just all kind of escuses , without any reasons , to delay all our cases !!! USCIS , in special , it is a broken system and i don't think they will pass thru this soon , now that they've got so many new aplications recently !!! Long time ago , i've got the same answer as you , but everything was just .... lies , because i've been confirmed from the local office IO ( thru infopass ) that everything was cleared on my case ( namecheck and backround check ) , and the IO from NCS in Washington DC they confirmed that also !!! So all what we get , it is just ....LIES , they don't know how to cover their b@LL anymore , and everytime you'll contact them they will give you all types of different b@LL !!! They are just a mess , and i hope and pray to GOD to help us all to pass this big ordeal what USCIS it is causing to all of people in this forum !!!

GOD BLESS !!!

From what I have heard, this job of doing checks is given to FBI rookies, the newcomers, and none of them want to do it since they dont consider it to be a 'real job'. So they just pass their time doing bare minimum stuff till they move on to their 'real jobs'
