You bumped only one hour after posting????
Basically you call the USCIS National Service Center and follow the directions to where you speak to somebody about not having received your card. They will very likely direct you to an immigration officer at the Service Center. That person will initiate a service request on your behalf in which a letter will be sent to you within 30 days (although in my case it was longer) telling you the status of your case. If I were you, and you're in a hurry for your new EAD, I'd schedule an INFOPASS appointment instead (click on the link on the USCIS home page).

Thanks for the info.
I am infact going to the local office next week. I have decided to waste ( or judiciously use ) one day. I do not want it to come down to the wire.
The lady I spoke to today told me maybe my I 485 was approved but I have niether recd any letter nor is there any change on online status.
Also USCIS has not replied to my request for to the Ombudsman office over 4 months ago.As per the letter they should have got back to me in 45 days.
I have come to terms with waiting ( over 5 years) for my I 485. Atleast they should renew my EAD so that I can get on with my life.
I am sorry I bumped it but as you can see I am flustered and frustrated with USCIS and sometimes loose self control.
But thanks anyways.This forum has always given me hope and place to vent.
