Thanks leroythelion and honkman for your feedback on my previous post! I have been working on my EB1-EA petition, utilizing the services of an immigration attorney.
However, I am unclear about the level of service one should expect from an immigration attorney on an EB1-EA petition. So, far, my attorney has discussed my case several times over the phone. However, each time, I find that I need to remind my attorney about the specifics of my case. I get the feeling that while my attorney is knowledgeable about immigration law, this person is really not on top of the details of my case.
I understand that an EB1-EA petition places a heavy workload on the beneficiary in terms of collecting all papers, citations, drafting recommendation letters and so on. What is the attorney really responsible for, in terms of preparing the case? Is the attorney's role really restricted to that of an advisor?
For instance, I really have not received any solid inputs in terms of recommendation letter templates. I have sent my attorney draft recommendation letters for my referees, hoping that these would be marked up with necessary modifications. However, I have received only general feedback (3-4 sentences), without say, specific changes to the content.
I would highly appreciate it if the forum members can share their experiences with immigration attorneys on EB1 and NIW cases.
