Service Center Updates

I have a case pending at the Vermont Service Center , I have been constantly checking the USCIS online list of processing dates since August 3rd, 2006 and they still have not updated their website. I called the 1800 number provided and spoke with a USCIS customer service rep and was advised that they update those dates every two weeks, yeah right, 'teva

Am I the only one who has noticed this trend? Not only that I also realized that they seem to be stuck on certain cases since July 17th, 2006. If they have a backlog, I think it's only right to let the general public know.

What are your thoughts?

I've given up checking on the Processing Dates. In the first place, they mean nothing, unless USCIS wants to use them to offset a complaint. And as you've noticed, they are updated (at best) once a month. Some DOs haven't been updated since the middle of July. I was also told by someone at the NBC these dates were updated "biweekly". I laughed.

I DO think they owe us some kind of reliable timeline, because even though we are asking them to perform a service for us, we have PAID them in a rather high dollar amount for this service. Also, their salaries are being paid with OUR tax dollars. Also, as a US Citizen who has paid taxes all her life, I somehow feel.. what's the word.. ah yes, entitled to receive the service I am paying for in a timely, professional and consistent manner. Oops, forgot I was talking about the Federal Government. :p

Rant over, for now.

Processing dates are pretty meaningless to be honest. For example, my DO says its currently processing AOS for August 2005, but I already have my interview for my AOS submitted June 2006.
