How do you know what Service center you are assigned to?

We filed everything at the Chicago Lock box,
We reside In Southern CA, but we received 2 NOA receipt notices
from St. Loius Mo.
Is St. Loius our Service center or DO?
Why would it be there?
or is there another way of telling what service center we are assigned to?

so is the reason I received my NOA Receipt notices for I-765 & I-130 but NOT for I-485 is due to them being processed at different locations?

Also whats with the Pre-processing?

I have a similar question as Addie_Goodvibes. Let me give a little background first. We live in NY and we sent everything (I-130, I485, I-131, I-765 ) out to Chicago Lockbox. All four of our receipts came from Lee's Summit, MO with receipt numbers starting with MSC. My wife will get finger printed at ASC (Application Support Center) at Jamica, NY.

My question is to do with I-485. I thought that I-485 gets processed by local DO. So why did we recieve the I-485 notice from Missouri? When does it get transferred to the local DO? Will we get a seperate notice from the local DO or does the receipt number stays the same thorugh out?

You should be getting a RN for I-485 from Lees Summit, MO too.
It sometimes happens that they don't send them out at the same time. If you don't hear from them in a couple of days you should call the service number, just to make sure.

I-485 is preprocessed by the NBC, too. I'm not sure what is included in that preprocessing, but I guess it's until they send out the interview letter (I got that from MO too). After that they transfer it to your local DO, where you are going to have your interview.

Everything sounds right, all your cases should have an MSC number.
It's because that's where all our cases (family-based) are being processed at first. The NBC is "communicating" with your local DOs/ASCs though, e.g. you will get a fingerprint appointment for your local ASC.

So far, all the letters I got were from the NBC, which makes me believe that only after they issued the interview letter, I-485 is being transferred to your local DO, where you are going to have your interview.

The case number will not change though.

Please go through the USCIS website to see details on how a marriage based petition is processed. You have to sent all the forms to Chicago Lockbox. If everything looks in order, the checks are cashed there and the forms forwarded to Lee's Summit, MO, outside Kansas City, MO. The service center there does the pre-processing of all the forms. They also adjudicate the EAD and AP applications (765, 131). They need all of it to go there since those 2 are dependent on the I-485 - AOS application, which in turn normally is also dependent on the I-130 - Petition for alien relative, when it is all filed concurrently. Now, the I-130 is forwarded to your Service Center (TX, CA, VT, NE) and the I-485 gets forwarded to your DO, if and only if your application is complete. If not, you get an RFE. Your SC would normally adjudicate the I-130 and if not, the decision is taken at your I-485 interview at the DO.
