My friend's RD is 10/5/01 and I assume that his GC will be approved in the next 3 months, but his contract will be terminated at the end of year. Does there is any problem if he can not find another job when his GC is not approved?

There's a high probability that his case will be approved before the year end. However, he should start looking for a new project/job ASAP just in case he receives an RFE. Best of Luck.
