EAD Renewal Questions

Dear Rajiv,

Thanks for providing the experts suggestion on the immigration related question.

Her is my Case.

I filed green card last year August 2007. I also applied for the EAD at the same time and I am having the EAD for me and my wife. My EADs are going to expire by October 5th 2008.

Could you please answer me the following questions.

1. Is it mandatory to renew the EAD?

2. If I don't renew the EAD now, can I renew it later. That means I don't see any reason to use my EAD right now, but in future, if my H1 expires I would like to work on EAD. Can I renew my EAD later but not renewing now?

3. If I don't renew my EAD, is it going to affect my Green Card.

Biometric processing

Hi Rajiv,
Thanks for this wonderful service that you are providing.
Here is my case:
We applied for the I485 in July 07 and had received the EAD/AP in August 07 but haven't received any request for the biometrics processing yet. We have made couple of info pass appointments without any results. Recently we received a letter from USCIS saying that our case is delayed because the investigation into our background check remains open.
What can we do in this case and what does this letter imply..?
