Hello All,

I am just waiting on my Oath Ceremony. I had my interview in Garden City, NY in Sept 16, 2005 and recived a 'Natualization Interview Results' letter from the officer. The box that was check off was:

1) "You passed the tests of English and US history and government."
2) "Congratulations! Your application has been recommended for approval. As the time, it appears that you have established your eligibility for naturalization. If final approval is granted, you will be notified when and where to report for the Oath Ceremony"

I have not heard from the INS about the Oath Ceremony. I made an InfoPass appointment and the office said they are still doing background checks.

The online status states:
Current Status:*
Your N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was received on June 8, 2004. We mailed you a receipt with information about processing. It is taking between 360 and 390 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete.

Does anyone know what I should do next? Congressman or letter to the Garden City office (I have the officer's name).

A friend of mine was in the same situation. The best thing you can do it to write a letter to the Officer in Garden City. This makes your file stay active. Most probably your name is being checked and it takes several months to clear. Some people write to FBI and some use Congressman offices to inquire about the status of Oath.

if his name was still under clearance from FBI, then the USCIS officer won't check the "congratulations" box, as they can't say such a thing while the name is still under check. In the continouos of name check, the uscis officer would check " a decision can not be made at this time"

Most probably, your file had been left out somewhere, or a lazy bastard is handling ur case, write to your congressman as soon as possible, and schedule an infopass and ask for a supervisor, sometimes they can get things done, SOMETIMES though.

Good luck,

Good luck and I hope you get your oath soon. :)

Same story here. Had a citizenship interview at Federal Plaza in May 2005. Had the same boxes checked. Still waiting for oath letter. Contacted my Congressman, called customer service, made an Infopass apoitmnet. Same result: pending security check.
When asked about checked boxes, was told that "it only means you passed the test".

Thanks all, I plan to write a letter today to the officer and attach copies of the 'Citizen Interview Results' form and also my appointment letter. I plan to send 1 letter a week until i get a reply. After a month without a response, I will make a congressman inquiry + my weekly letters. Hopefully, it will help.

Any other people with the same experiences?

THanks All

I just remembered, the funny thing is that about 2 months before, my mom and dad had citizenship interviews in Garden City. They got the same letter and within 2 weeks, they recieved an oath ceremony appointment. They are just so unorganized.

ok, i created the letter and attached the results form. I went to the post office and mailed it 'certified mail' with return reciept. It's going to garden city office with attention to the 'officer' that i had the interview. I will defitently keep you all posted.
