separate interview

I am posting this tread on behalf my friend. He is won GC DV2007, now he is waiting on interview, but there is some problem. He is married but his wife temporary works is Canada and she will not be able to be on interview with him. Is it possible to have separate interview like he will have in local embassy and she in US embassy in Canada or not?
