sending n-400 application before July 30th. Why can't I send it on 29th?

Hi,
Though Sunday July 29th is a holiday for the USPS counter, you can still mail using the "click-n-ship" or automated mail centers in post offices. In fact, I mailed my n-400 application today this way by certified mail. The shipping label states sale date of July 29th, 07. As I know, this will be the only date on the mail and there will be no further "post marks".

Since the fee increase is supposed to be on or after July 30th, do you think my application will be accepted?

Don't know, you might be the volunteer guinea pig ;) Let us know how it goes. I kind of doubt it's going to work, as people could buy this stamp and then send Monday, or Tuesday. My guess is that postmark is going to be the important thing, not date of purchase.

My 2 cents.

Please do write back in the Forum and tell us if this worked well for you.
Good luck.

I think your mail will be accepted. Since the postage with the date can be sold on only that date, your postmark date will most likely be locked for 29th.
Also you could have mailed from some usps store located in a mall I think. Not sure of the postmark in that case though.

i knew about the fee increase about a month ago and prepared and completed my application a while ago (my money order is dated 07/19), but was dumb enough to have delayed actually posting it till today (07/30)... so mine will be postmarked 07/30..

do u guys think it'll be accepted? if not, will they keep the money order and just deny it, or will they just send my application back with the money order?

thanx in advance..

cheers,
/g.

They may send it back. You had to have mailed it postmarked July 29, 2007 or lower. If postmarked July 30, 2007 or greater then higher fee is paid.

thanx 4 ur response, jedi... so, if they send it back, do u think they would still cash the money order or would they send that back too (for other types of rejections/denials, fees is non-refundable right)?

If they send it back they don't cash anything. They only cash the checks for the N-400's they are going to process. You would have to re-do the checks with the new increase in them...

n400 application sent on july 29th sunday is accepted!!!

Hi,
I found today that my check was cashed today. It means the application is accepted, right?
The best part is, after procastinating long enough to miss July 28th (Saturday) deadline, I went to USPS on Sunday 29th and posted it using the automated ship center. I am so happy that I beat the deadline.;)

Which service center did you send it to?
"accepted, right?" no, it means the check was cashed. But it's a good sign.

i was worried about using the automated service too

I also used the automated postal center on 7/27 because i was daunted by the incredible length of the queue. I was worried because my check wasn't cashed for a very long time...but it finally was on Monday, 9/24!
