Sending additional docs and online status

Folks,
I wanted to send some additional documents to the immigration office. Note that the immigration folks have not requested these. But I am anticipating they *may* require them while processing my application. Does it make sense to send the papers (via fax) before they ask me to do the same?

Also, can someone point me to the link for checking online status

you can send those papers by stating ur file # and name and date of birth on them( thats what they asked ME to do )

I had tried this before but it didn't work :-(
Would it be because I probably dont qualify under any of the mentioned categories or maybe because I *just* received my file number? Category 4 is a little confusing. I have filed under the federal skilled worker category (after jan 1 2002 of course). So do I qualify?
